Salvation
One evening a man named Nicodemus came to speak with Jesus. This man was a respected ruler among the Jewish people who had a reputation of being an upstanding citizen. He told Jesus that he knew no one could do the miracles that Jesus performed unless they had come from God. Nicodemus was concerned about his soul. He wanted to know if he was on the path to Heaven or if there was something else that he must do. Jesus said "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3).
Like Nicodemus, all men and women are in need beyond what this world can give them. The bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that we are sinners, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God," and in Romans 6:23 we learn the penalty and the remedy for that sin, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
God sent His son Jesus to be the payment for our sin and Jesus gave His life on the cross for that purpose. To receive that gift for yourself you must confess your sin to God and believe on Jesus as the risen Savior. Romans Chapter 10 teaches "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (vs. 9). This is a marvelous work of the Holy Spirit and through it God will change your heart, as it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Will you stop for a moment to consider your own soul? Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and been made new? If you, like Nicodemus, are concerned about your soul, will you repent of your sin and ask Jesus to save you now?
